General Assessment

An initial assessment is required prior to performing any treatment to the presenting injury/ complaint. This entails taking a history of the injury, its onset, presenting symptoms and any relevant past medical history. Following this an objective examination is performed- testing to relevant structures and muscles and then identifying the exact structure involved in the injury. A working diagnosis is given and a treatment plan is made. This treatment plan will identify what areas need to be treated, what sort of time frame is needed for recovery and what exercises are needed to improve movement and impairment.
A GP referral is not required to book this initial assessment. ISCP members are eligible to treat on first referral.
